High School Students and Adults at St. Joseph's
 
PRIVATE LESSONS

TUITION per nine week term

30 minutes $215
45 minutes = $320
60 minutes = $425

A $30 Registration Fee is paid once. Additional family members pay $20.

For new students, lessons begun within a term are pro-rated.

 

PIANO
Private lessons for beginners to advanced students, taking into consideration past musical experience and age. Emphasis is on fluent reading, memory skills, understanding of musical fundamentals, rhythmic and technical control, with concentration on self-expression and interpretation of different styles.

VOICE

Vocal training is directed toward correct placement and quality of tone, breathing and support, enunciation, intonation, and general musicianship. Advanced students continue technical training and develop repertoire. An opportunity for improving musicianship and performance through ensemble singing and workshops.

STRINGS
An individualized instruction course open to all levels emphasizing high standards of technique, intonation, coordination, listening, memorizing, musical expression, interpretation, and musicianship. Book II and up may form Ensembles.

WOODWINDS and BRASSES

Open to ages eight through adult with an emphasis on breathing and support, embouchure, intonation, fingering, tonguing, internal beat, tone quality, and general musicianship. As technique is acquired, repertoire is expanded. Ensemble work is encouraged to develop expression, interpretation, and memorizations. Solo and ensemble performances are included in the curriculum.

GUITAR
Basic guitar for the beginning child or adult includes chords, strumming, picking, melody and runs. The advanced player perfects more difficult guitar techniques and studies music theory. A repertoire is developed from the classical and/or popular areas of guitar literature.

PERCUSSION
Lessons open to all levels --beginners through advanced students. Emphasis is on rhythmic beats, reading skills, dynamics, and finesse preparing for band, symphonic, or small combo performances. Includes instruments of definite and indefinite pitch: timpani, bells, xylophone, marimba, snare and bass drum, triangle, cymbal. Students have opportunities to perform individually and in groups.


 
Classes
FLUTE ENSEMBLE

Instructor: Emily Sapa

Flute choir experience for middle school students. Students develop accuracy in rhythm, intonation and balance while rehearsing and performing engaging  and diverse repertoire.

CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLES

Coached by Faculty,
meets six times per term during Terms I-IV.
